Farrah Fawcett was an American actor, artist and model, best known for playing the role of 'The Apostle'. She was nominated seven times to win the Golden Globe Award and four times for the Emmy Award. The actress began her professional career with commercials on television. Also, she was a guest on roles in TV shows, like 'I Dream of Jeannie' as well as 'The Flying Nun'. Her film debut was an appearance for the French comedy "Love is a funny thing. She became internationally known for her iconic red swimsuit poster which eventually became the most popular pin-up-themed poster ever. As she grew older and became more popular, she was able to continue appearing in a variety of popular TV series and movies that helped establish her place as a top sex icon in the world of entertainment. In the crime-drama series Charlie's Angels, she played the role of a detective. The series portrayed the lives of three female detectives working for an agency for private detectives located in Los Angeles. Apart from playing glamorous characters, she was also reputed for her dramatic performances like the role of a battered woman in the TV film 'The Burning Bed. Her name was placed at number 26 in TV Guide's '50 Greatest TV celebrities of all time'. In 1989, aged 59 she was diagnosed as having anal cancer. She passed away three years later.
