Catherine Ford is a British actress, born in Bloomsbury. After her father's departure from the family, she was brought up by her mother grandparents, and godparents. While she was a small girl, she was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder. She also experienced anxiety because of the word"association. Ford began to be attracted to acting as a teenager and enrolled in the National Youth Theatre. She was accepted into Sylvia Young Theatre School but after just one week she realized that she wasn't a good fit. Ford was then able to apply for a spot at the Central School of Speech and Drama and was admitted on her fourth attempt. Shaun Dingwall was one of Ford's fellow students. He was later to play frequent roles on the show as Pete Tyler and Doctor Who. Ford's debut on TV was an episode in 1991 called Surgical Spirit. By the moment she was done with school, Ford already went by "Catherine Tate". In the Nineties, Tate could be seen on television in programmes such as The Bill, Men Behaving Badly and London's Burning. The stage was her main focus as well as a part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's season 2000-2001. Tate began to gain attention because of her stand-up comedic performances in the year 1996.
